Global President

In his over twenty years of communications experience, Alex has created global campaigns for some of the world’s largest and most diverse blue-chip companies, overseen offices in four continents, and founded one of Japan’s leading ad agencies.

In 2003, Alex created the vision for Beacon Communications ? a joint venture between two of the world’s largest global advertising conglomerates, Dentsu and Publicis. Under his guidance, the 350-person agency won recognition in the industry for its fresh creative work, unique office environment and modernized take on corporate culture.

Alex’s tenure as President of Beacon taught him to believe that constant challenge, agility, and entrepreneurship are the key ingredients to working effectively in the new digital paradigm. Further cementing his reputation as a catalyst for change, he resigned his position at Beacon in order to found Suitmen ? an entirely new kind of communications company.

Tohru Tanaka
Japan President

Tohru is widely considered one of the most entrepreneurial and forward-thinking creative talents in Japan. In 2000, he made the unprecedented decision to leave a senior creative management position at Dentsu to establish his own company, GT, Inc. That same year, his experience as a jury member at Cannes introduced him to the future potential of interactive media, and he immediately decided to focus GT’s energy into blazing new paths within the digital space.

GT, Inc. has gone on to become one of the most highly-respected digital agencies throughout Asia, winning prestigious awards within Japan as well as global accolades at Adfest and Cannes. This level of success has given Tohru the confidence with Suitmen to once again do the unthinkable for his generation and take his new company international.

Adam Glickman
US President

At the age of 25, Adam launched Tokion Magazine and soon transformed the print title into a world-renowned media brand. With offices in New York and Tokyo, Tokion’s reach would evolve to include an annual conference series, a documentary film division, retail shops, and a merchandise line created exclusively by leading international artists and designers. Under Adam’s direction, Tokion became an influential leader in the independent magazine category and created a market for an entire generation of new print titles.

Feeling increasingly unchallenged by traditional media and ever more fascinated by the potential of digital, Adam sold the Tokion brand in 2005 to begin anew. In 2006, he joined Wieden & Kennedy as their Director of Original Content. During his tenure at W+K, he helped to re-brand the agency through a new global website ? wk.com ? and defined effective strategies for a traditional ad agency to adapt to new media challenges.

Young Kim
Director of Content

Young began his career working with some of the top names in media. He re-branded QVC under Barry Diller and Diane Von Furstenberg and took on the art direction of the New York Times Sunday Magazine under Carrie Donavan. After only two years at Wieden & Kennedy, Young was tapped to launch their Japan office in 1994. During his tenure as creative director at W+K Tokyo, Young oversaw the Nike 1996 Olympic advertising effort.

Since 1998, Young has focused on directing music videos and commercials for such clients as Adidas, The Wall Street Journal, Sega and Yohji Yamamoto. He made his first leap into content development in 2003 as director and co-creator of the Nike “Battlegrounds” documentary.

The film originally aired on MTV and is widely considered the first foray into branded entertainment as an alternative to traditional advertising. This project gave Young a vision of where branded content could lead in the future.

Koshi Uchiyama
.com Director

Koshi has traveled a long and winding road from Keio University’s Department of Business and Commerce to his current role as Asia’s premier digital guru. He began his 18-year career at Denstu in the PR division, where his diverse experiences ranged from producing Madonna’s first Japan concert to creating the world’s largest monitor for the world’s largest disco. These projects became a launching pad for Koshi to take a full-time plunge into digital media. Rapidly embracing the potential of new technology, he established the first digital department at Dentsu. In 2000 Koshi left Dentsu with Tohru Tanaka to create GT, Inc. Today, he is the most internationally awarded Japanese creative within the digital field.
